GOD COULDN’T SINK THIS SHIP

On the 10th April, 1912 the Titanic left the docks at Southampton at around 12 pm.  There was around 2,200 people on board and it is said that it is unsinkable.

Construction on the Titanic began in March 1910 by Harland and Wolff in Belfast.  Construction finished on the 1st of April 1912.  Her three propellers are the size of windmills and will help her speed across the Atlantic to America.

The scene at the quayside as she left was very busy.  There must have been twenty stands checking the 3rd class passengers for head lice and any diseases that people could carry over to America.  There were lots of people saying bye to their friends and family but some people just wanted to see the ship.

The facilities on board the Titanic are very luxurious with Turkish baths, a private promenade and private suites of rooms and you are only just getting started.  Bruce Ismay, owner of the White Star Line, says there is a grand staircase, swimming pool and first class lounge and that would only cover a quarter of the ship.

Most of the passengers travelling 3rd class are going to start a new life in America while some of the 1st and 2nd class are going to get married but some people just wanted the privilege of sailing on the Titanic.

Magnificent Floating Palace!!

Titanic, or as most people are calling it, the floating palace, was launched yesterday at noon in England’s Southampton where everyone crowded to see the magnificent ship.  People like Bruce Ismay and other important people waited to board.

The floating palace Titanic was built in Belfast in 1909.  Although Bruce Ismay is the owner of the Titanic he did not build it.  Harland and Wolff built it.  Bruce Ismay however did pay for the ship so it is his ship.  As time went on, just as it was almost completed, Bruce Ismay decided that the ship should have less lifeboats so it could have more passengers.  The lifeboats are not needed as they say the boat is unsinkable.  The ship was ready to be transported to Southampton by the 31st January 1912.

Standing by the quayside it’s hectic.  There’s crying and cheering.  There is lots of excitement and happiness in the air.  There’s people from all over.  Some people were just there to see the boat and to admire it.

The facilities on board are amazing.  There is first class, second class and third class. There’s a first class lounge, swimming pool and also a gymnasium and lots more.  It’s all of those special things that make the Titanic a floating palace!

At last the ship sets sail while everyone waves goodbye.  The Titanic is heading towards France then to Ireland and then on across the Atlantic Ocean with all the passengers settled and having fun.

The Ship of Dreams

Yesterday, the 10th of April, at Southampton, the Titanic was launched.  People from all over the world came to see this floating palace.  There are over 2,200 crew members and passengers going on it and no doubt there will be lots of famous people aboard.  People are going on the Titanic to start a new life in America.

In March 1909 the Titanic was being built.  I spoke to Bruce Ismay, owner of the White Star Line and he said that he was very impressed with the builders and he is very excited about the launch of the Titanic.  He explained that the boat has sixteen compartments and if four of them get flooded the boat would still float and it has four funnels.

The quayside was very busy with people shouting good luck and crying.  I bumped into Molly Brown and asked her a few questions.  She is very excited to be boarding the Titanic or, as she calls it, the ship of dreams.  This lucky lady has a first class ticket and she is going to America because her husband has struck gold!

The facilities on board are magnificent – Turkish baths (lovely and relaxing), swimming pools to go for a swim in, elegant restaurants, a gymnasium and private reading rooms.

All hopes and dreams can come true for those on board.  Third class passengers want to own their own businesses, second class passengers want to strike gold and first class passengers want to enjoy a holiday or get married.

Titanic Sets Sail

News just in!  The Titanic, also known as the floating palace, was launched yesterday in Southampton.  It’s travelling past France and Ireland and is heading to New York.  It was launched at 12pm, 10th April 1912.

It was built in March 1909 in Belfast by Harland and Wolff.  The designer was a man called Thomas Andrews.  It is said he is going to be a passenger on the ship.  This magnificent ship is not only the biggest moving object but has other luxury features such as Turkish baths, a grand staircase, a gymnasium, a reading and writing room and a 1st class lunge.

At the quayside right now it’s extremely busy with friends and family waving goodbye.  There was a lot of cheering and crying.  The ship is the size of 22 buses lined up end to end!  It also has a kennel for passengers’ pets!

As the boat sails across the Atlantic Ocean passengers can’t wait to get to New York to start a new life!

Ship of Dreams

Yesterday when the ship of dreams was launched it was at 12 pm in Southampton, England.  What they say is this is the ship that is unsinkable.  The boat will pick up more passengers at France and Belfast before heading for its destination at the USA.  Why are people going to the USA?  It is so they can have a better life and get a job.

Harland and Wolff started building the Titanic in 1909.  A man called Thomas Andrews made the design and Bruce Ismay of the White Star Line built it with other people helping him.  He wanted to take some lifeboats off the ship to make it look nicer.

At the docks people are cheering and people are crying as their loved ones leave.  It is full and crowded on the docks.  Screaming and shouting people are waving goodbye because people are leaving for the USA.

On the Titanic it is a floating palace with 1st, 2nd and 3rd class.  1st class have a lot of paintings in the cabins and it is really expensive.  2nd class is not so posh but it still costs a lot of money to travel in.

As the passengers are sailing their hopes will be to get to the USA safely and to live a new life and get a new job and they will think it will be good.

BONFIRE NIGHT

Bang! As fast as lightning the fireworks go off
Crack!  Fizz!  Boom! The lovely but dangerous colourful fireworks
Ooooo! Aaaaa!  The fireworks are a bomb in the sky
Pop! Pow! Ping! As the children hold their sparklers in the clear night sky
Phew, phew, phew, hiss!  As the fireworks blow up.
Kaboom!  ZZZZzzz. As hot as an oven the crowd is surprised by the display
Look as someone shouts the 213 fireworks go off at the same time
And that’s what you call a beautiful bonfire night!!!

FIREWORK DISPLAY

Bang as a firework shoots up in to the air
Zzzz as sparklers are about to end
But still burn as hot as a bonfire crackling
Phew … as the crowd thought a firework was going to hit them
The candy floss was as fluffy as a cloud
A big burning burger was fattening like a beast
The chunky cool chips smell delicious as the heat comes to me
The big burning bonfire crackling at the firework display

Natalie

FIREWORK

The firework was like a big explosion in the army
The bonfire is like a big, fierce beast about to eat you
The merry go round was a tornado floating in the sky
A show or a ride, they are so fun and funky like seeing a magic show
A catherine wheel sounds like rice crispies ready to drop on you
The candy floss is as sticky as a gooey monster trying to give you a hug
My lovely hotdog was as slippery as an eel as it slips out of my roll
My popcorn was as salty as the sea as I’m munching away at it
The toffee apple was like a rock as you try to get your teeth into it

Kirstin

Halloween Scream

1 glass of vomiting vile vampire’s blood as it flows towards you
2 gory gross giant bogeys as they leave a trail of goo

1 pair of boaky brutal bats wings as they fly towards you
5 gruesome ghastly Gary’s fingers as they wiggle towards you
6 mouldy mad fangs, chop them and leave them for 100 years
8 rancid rotten hearts as they drop in the pot
A spell to make you scream at Halloween!

Adam

Maggie!!!

4 epic evil eyeballs baked in a pot
3 caramel chocolate chimpanzee’s arms melted in a fryer
6 gooey gross green bogeys fresh out of a witch’s nose
2 webbed weird witch’s cats, take all their insides out and bake it inside out
4 bogey beast’s brains, heated up in a cauldron
10 rubbery rotten rats tails, chop them, rock them, leave them for 3 weeks
2 dusty dangerous dinosaur bones served straight out of the freezer
6 wobbly warty noses fried with chimpanzee arms
Give this to anyone you don’t like and watch them turn into a small maggot!!!

Emily

My Spell Book

One wicked witch’s wart fresh from her face in the morning
Two minging mouldy lungs from the witch’s cat
200 grams of wrinkled rotten heart from a zombie risen from the dead
Two crunchy crushed skulls all over the table
Two of horrible horrid Hitler’s feet as they walk all over the place
Six lumps of gobbly gooey green goo falling off the table
Six rotten rats tails on the doorstep to scare
When that’s all done mix it in a bowl for an hour
Then you are done.  Yum

The Blood Poem

The red eye popping blood
Bubbling, boiling, hot blood, steaming up for witches poem
Powerful boiling popped as the witch laughed
Black blood dripping down the old rusty witches legs
Boom boom goes the burst of the bubbles blood
Dripping dangerous poison  dripped down from the old table
Blood dripping down the vicious the terrifying vampire
Black big witch blood
Bad tastes less blood smelled like red lava pouring out a volcano

Fireworks!

Boom!  Boom!  The firework goes off into the sky.
Blue, Blinking Bright burst out in the air like a bomb exploding.
Crackle goes the sparkler as I felt the burn.
Sizzle as I taste the sausages on the BBQ.
A firework is a painting in action turning into mid air.
Whoosh goes one firework as I stand next to it.  I smell the burn.

Elvis Presley – A Biography

Elvis was one of the people who changed music and is one of the musicians that no one will forget.  He did something special.  He sang with emotion and joy and he brought spirit to music and his love for music is still here today.

Elvis was born in Tuelpo, Mississippi.  He was born in a small white house with no neighbours, just trees.  He grew up with a poor family and not a lot of friends.

Elvis was a very bright kid.  He went to quite a poor school that was very small.  There weren’t a lot of kids to mingle with of his age.  He got a lot of good grades during school but he only went to school for a few years.

Elvis’ first major achievement was going on the Dorsey Brothers’ TV show which is an afternoon talk show.  His first record was Love Me Tender in 1956 which earned him loads of money.  His first successful record deal was with Sun Records in 1954.  Elvis is probably the most successful person with Sun Records earning millions of dollars.

An ambition Elvis had was to be in the military and after weeks of training Elvis eventually got into the army.  He was in it for no longer than a year then he had to pull out.

Sadly Elvis passed away due to drug misuse but we will have his spirit forever.

Adele’s Biography

Adele was born on the 5th of May 1988.  Adele grew up with her single teenage mother in a small house somewhere in England called Tottenham in London.  Little Adele started singing to her mother when she was only 4 years old.  He made a stage and her mother and friends would watch her.  However when she was 14 she realized it was something she was meant to do so she started singing in places as she grew up.  Now Adele went to school with Jessie J and Leona Lewis who now are amazing singers too.  Now having decided to become a popstar, Adele was hardly known when she was younger.

Adele is one of many people who are remembered but she is remembered because of her amazing voice and all her awards.  She has tons of awards!  She has many many songs out.  My favourite’s Set Fire To The Rain.  Her best album is Adele 21.  An important thing about growing up is having obstacles to overcome.  But Adele never had obstacles which means life has been easy but Adele grew up without a dad which means her mum was left with all the hard work.

Meanwhile right now Adele has been earning millions of awards.  A list of her awards are 4 platinum records, Brit awards and a Grammy award.  Adele is so lucky she has so many awards.  She is an amazing accomplished woman but she still has many many awards to get as she tries to make it as the number 1 female artist.

Making her way in life Adele has just planned to get on with her career.  She has no other arrangements.  She is such a hard-working person who keeps going until she needs to stop.  She is only 23 year old and she has a long way to go which means she still has many brilliant songs to sing.

Daddy Is A Baddy

Reported by Andrew S

On the 28th of December a Mr Robinson killed his wife, Mrs Robinson and their four kids, Emma, Claire, Jack and Benedict.  It is said that Mrs and Mrs Robinson had an argument that night.  They fell out then Mr Robinson shot them.  The guns were perfectly legal.  He had five guns, three rifles and two shot guns.  They were quiet people and their neighbours hardly knew them.  This all happened at their house in Glasgow.  New evidence says that the reason he killed his kids was because they heard the argument.  If the police can somehow listen to the argument then the whole case will become clear.  They will be sorely missed by their families.

Crash and Burn

Reporter Mark Y

It was a lovely Saturday morning in 1969.  Peaceful and quiet but somehow unusual.  It was around eleven o’clock and Linda Baker a mechanic from east London was working.  She was on her lunchbreak but by mistake she left the car boot up.  Smithy, a fellow mechanic, lit a cigarette and the car’s engine exploded right in his face!

This sent him flying head on against a wall.  The fire spread and turned into an inferno.  The wind was blowing it all over London engulfing London in flames and smoke.  Citizens of London were signaled to stay inside their homes and close everything.

Firefighters got the blaze under control it took twelve fire engines, ninety nine firemen and fifty hoses to put the fire out.  Eighty eight people died and thousands were injured.

Burglar In The Streets of Kilmarnock

Reporter Amy W

Last night there was a burglary in Square Court Kilmarnock.  Whoever did it stole a woman’s purse, diamond earrings and an iPod touch.  Nobody had known anything about it until one of the neighbors came out after hearing a thump outside her window.  She saw a person in black carrying a black bag and they were running away from a house with a broken window.  Not long after the police arrived, the owners of the house arrived home as they had been at a party.

Niall Horan one of the owners of the house said, “Whoever had done this is extremely greedy and had better own up soon.”  Police are predicting the burglar might strike again tonight and to keep all precious items kept hidden.  Other owner, Amelia Horan said, “The earrings were really expensive and I can’t believe they were stolen.”  Luckily the little girl Emma Horan was staying at her dad’s friends house that night due to here parents being at the party.  Police say they will be continuing the search until they find this thief.

BOOM! Goes the bright, beautiful  firework  blasting  into the night sky.
The big, burning bonfire is like a wind of a dragon’s breath.
The delightful, delicious doughnut tastes like a gift from heaven.
WHOOSH! Goes the rocket  going towards the sky.
The weather is a breeze that changes.
Super, soft clothes are a shelter for your body.
BANG! Goes the firework hitting off the dark sky.
The bonfire is a boiling ball of heart.
The exploding explosive gunpowder smells like a sniff of smoke.
The food is a yummy dessert waiting to be eaten.
The Catherine Wheel  looks like a spiral of light being tossed  into the sky.
Soft, stunning clothes being worn by a lady who came to see the display.
