The Floating Palace

The ship of dreams set sail for its voyage to New York.  Before the Titanic set sail we talked to people going on this voyage and those here to wave the floating palace off, their family and loved ones.  The super ship was constructed in Belfast in a harbour called Harland and Wolff.

We spoke with Molly Brown, a young lady who lives in the lap of luxury.  She says she’s amazed at this ship which is 268 metres long and 882 feet.  She was so amazed when I told her.  She hopes she has a room with a record player and has nice food.  Bruce Ismay, the owner says it’s the best creation he’s ever built.  He says God won’t be able to sink this ship.  He says the hull is divided into sixteen compartments – if four flood it can still float.

No wonder this ship is a floating palace, it has an amazing swimming pool, massive gym, a grand staircase and elegant restaurants.  Captain E J Smith is planning to set sail here in Southampton, picking up passengers in Ireland and France then heading for New York, trying to break the record for the fastest travel across the Atlantic Ocean.

Now we will speak with Jim Brown, a third class passenger, who sold everything he owns for a ticket.  He says I’ll miss my family but I’m ready to start a new life in America.

The Launch of the Titanic

The moment we have all been waiting for, the ship of dreams, the floating palace, the launch of the Titanic.  Soon this ship will set sail.  It’s the biggest ship in the world and it will stay that way.  We will be interviewing some of the locals.  Today it will sail from Southampton and end its voyage in New York!

This amazing ship was built in Belfast at Harland and Wolff shipyard.  It is 882 feet long, it is unsinkable and it has 3 gigantic propellers.  The hull is separated into 16 compartments and four could flood and it would still be able to float.  It’s the length of 22 buses.  Probably the most noticeable feature is the big tunnels.  Only 3 get used and 1 is for storage.

People are here with cameras taking photos of this beautiful moment in history.  Cars are being loaded on to the ship on big platforms.  Trunks are being dragged along the ground.  Lots of people are cheering and waving to friends and family, seeing them off as they go on a journey across the sea.

On board the Titanic there is a gymnasium where passengers can get fit, and a swimming pool for a bit of fun, and Turkish Baths to relax and much more.  It is called the floating palce because it is like a palace.  The service is good and the food is extraordinary, so it is like a home for some people on board.  The crew wait on you hand and foot, at the clap of your hands people will serve you.

Molly Brown said it’s the ship of dreams.  I can’t wait to get to New York.  Captain Smith said we have planned for smooth sailing.  We will dock in New York in 6 days and this is my last voyage so I will try to beat the record of the fastest across the Atlantic Ocean.  The tickets are a lot of money – 1^st Class room - £30, 2^nd Class room - £12 and 3^rd Class room - £8.  I sold everything I own to go to America said Jim Black.  I wish good luck to everyone on board and a safe trip

Titanic is the place for you

There’s four mouth-watering restaurants for you to enjoy!  When you are hotter than the sun you can cool down in our jaw-dropping pool or even a Turkish bath.  Wannabe authors, you’re in luck, there’s even a reading and writing room.  Gymnastics, if you want to practise, there’s a state of the art gymnasium.

If you’re a hungry guest this is the place to be, inside Titanic she holds large fridges with fish, meat, vegetables and many more.  Titanic needs eight hundred tonnes of coal each day to keep her going. In fact if you are interested her lifeboats are twenty-five feet long.  Are any of you passengers claustrophobic?  Don’t worry, there’s plenty of space.  I know being stuck at home isn’t really that much fun but come here on April 10^th, you’ll never regret it.

So if you’re looking for a bit of fun or relaxation, buy some tickets for Titanic.  Aboard the ship there are plenty of friendly people, even old Captain Smith, (the best Captain in Britain.)  Don’t forget through the grand staircase head to the first-class lounge.  Nobody in the world will want to miss the chance to be on the Titanic’s maiden voyage.  One of those people could be you!  This fabulous ship’s tickets will be sold out soon, so hurry to Southampton!  Buy that ticket!  Be the first!
